Speaking out against anti-Semitism
As a Jewish-owned business, the past few weeks have been terrifying. While I was completing what should have been a very exciting round of events, I was consumed with the state of the world right now. Last night, I texted my rabbi asking how old my child should be before I talk to her about anti-Semitism, I threw out every piece of Adidas branded items we owned, and I thought about what it would mean to wear my Jewish star necklace again.
Why do I need to be thinking about these things in 2022? I wish I understood the answer to that question, but I don't. All I know is that I'm proud to be Jewish, and I'm scared at the same time. It's important to pause and acknowledge what's going on right now. We can't gloss over it and assume everything will be okay. Whether it's anti-Semitism, racism, or equality for women's reproductive rights, all of these things and all of the people affected are important.
What can we do? We can vote in the midterms, and in every other election, to ensure those elected are representative of our values. Since the pandemic began the mantra has been "stronger together", and that couldn't be more true than it is now.
